Funeral Services Held For John J. Freerksen

Funeral services were held for John J. Freerksen Saturday at the Longenecker funeral home in Eldora and at the First Christian Reformed in Wellsburg in charge of Rev. A. C. Kruse of Waterloo. Burial was in the church cemetery.

John J. Freerksen was born February 9, 1883, in Shiloh township, Grundy county, the son of Margaret Glassier and John Freerksen and died of a heart attack July 24 at the home of his son, Elmer, in Grinnell.

He was married January 20, 1904 to Rena Claassen of Wellsburg. To this union were born three sons, Leslie of Marshalltown, Arthur of Des Moines, Elmer of Grinnell and one daughter, Mrs. Hibbard Moore of Eldora, who with the widow and ten grandchildren all survive. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Sophie Beecroft and Mrs. H. F. Weitkamp and one brother Alfred, all of Wellsburg.

For many years Freerksen was a rural mail carrier in Wellsburg, later moving to Steamboat Rock where he operated a garage. In later years he was in the real estate business in central Iowa, residing in Grundy Center and Marshalltown.

Pallbearers were Meint H. Tjaden, M. D. Niehaus, Herman Haack, Ben Hoekstra, H. C. Neessen and D. W. Riekena.
