Peter A. Eckhoff Buried Saturday At W'burg Cemetery

Peter A. Eckhoff passed away around 9 o'clock Wednesday evening, October 9, at his home in Steamboat Rock due to a heart attack. He reached the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 23 days.

He was born October 16, 1882, near Ridott, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arend Eckhoff (nee Enka Snapp). At the age of 9, he came to Iowa with his parents and settled on a farm east of Steamboat Rock. On January 27, 1916, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Heeren in Parkersburg. Following their marriage they lived on a farm east of Steamboat Rock. In 1950 they moved to Steamboat Rock where they continued to make their home.

They were privileged to celebrate their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary on January 27, 1966 with their family and friends.

He was a long time member of the First Christian Reformed Church, having made confession of his faith in Jesus Christ on March 12, 1919.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant daughters, one brother at the age of 5 years, his twin brother in infancy, 2 sisters, (Anna), Mrs. Ede Christians and Miss Jennie Eckhoff.

Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Anna; 1 daughter (Ordie), Mrs. Chris Green of Ackley; 2 sons: Arend G. Eckhoff and Henry L. Eckhoff both of Steamboat Rock; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Peter A. Eckhoff were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Harold Hollander officiating at the service.

Music was given by a men's quartet, Claus G. Primus, Harvey Eiten, Alfred Eiten and Willis Bakker accompanied by Miss Elizabeth Eekhoff, organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. George W. Harms and Mrs. Ed Frerichs.

Pall bearers were George W. Harms, Ed Frerichs, Arthur Frerichs, Will B. Primus, Claus B. Janssen and Eldon Havens. Interment was made in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery.
