Funeral Monday for Peter H. Nederhoff, 74

Peter H. Nederhoff passed away around 8:15 on Friday morning, October 26, 1979, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines due to complications following a heart attack on the previous Wednesday. He reached the age of 74 years, 1 month and 8 days.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 29, 1979 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed church. Rev. Leslie Kuiper was officiating clergyman. The Messengers quartet, Richard Schafer, Lary Riebkes, Arnold Eiten and Melvin Haupt, sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. LuRay Meyer. Miss Elizabeth Eekhoff was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Helen Riekena and Mrs. Lillian Meester. Pallbearers were George Nederhoff, Marvin Nederhoff, Roger Nederhoff, Wallace Deters, Ronald Deters, and Dale Geerdes. Interment was held in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Peter Nederhoff was born on a farm in Shiloh Township, southwest of Wellsburg, on September 18, 1905, the son of Henry O. and Peterka (Eekhoff) Nederhoff and attended the rural school in the area. On September 6, 1927 he was united in marriage to Gepka Deters at the First Christian Reformed Church parsonage by the Rev. H. C. Bode. This union was blessed with one son, Arnold Lee Nederhoff. Following their marriage they lived on a farm south of Wellsburg. In January of 1959, they retired from the farm and moved to Wellsburg to make their home. They were privileged to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary on September 2, 1977, with their family and friends.

Mr. Nederhoff was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg having made confession of his faith in Jesus Christ on April 22, 1928.

He served on the Wellsburg Community School Board of Education for several years and also drove a school bus for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Odie H. Nederhoff.

Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Gepka; his son and daughter-in-law, Arnold and Belva Nederhoff of Wellsburg; four grandchildren, Brenda Nederhoff of Eldora; Sandi Nederhoff of Wellsburg, David and Robert Nederhoff, both of Wellsburg; one brother, Carl J. Nederhoff of Wellsburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
