Evert Bleeker, 72, Dies At Area Hospital

Funeral services for Evert Bleeker were held on Saturday afternoon, June 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church.

Rev. Leslie Kuiper was officiating clergyman. Special music was given by a men's quartet, Lary Riebkes, Melvin Haupt, Arnold Eiten and Claus G. Primus accompanied by Mrs. LuRay Meyer. Miss Elizabeth Eekhoff was organist.

Pallbearers were Donald Geerdes, Greg Geerdes, Evan Anderson, Robert Wilts, Dick Larson and Randy Roegner. Interment was made in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery.

Evert Bleeker was born on August 6, 1906. He passed away on Thursday, June 14, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo where he had been hospitalized for 24 days. He attained the age of 72 years, 10 months and 7 days.

On October 8, 1952 he was united in marriage to Bessie Geerdes. They lived on a farm in Clay township and in 1970 moved to their present home in Ackley.

Preceding the deceased in death were a sister and brother in infancy, his mother Ettje Mennenga Bleeker and his father, Hilko Bleeker.

Survivors are his wife, Bessie; one sister, Mrs. Anna Kies of Ackley and one brother, John H. Bleeker of Iowa Falls.
