Rites Held For Jonas Geerdes

Jonas G. Geerdes, 69, of 110 Derbyshire Road, Waterloo, died at his home on Monday, Nov. 7, of malignant melanoma.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Cedar Falls, with the burial service at 12:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery at Wellsburg.

Jonas Geerdes was born on Sept. 9, 1925, in Marshalltown, the son of Ben and Anna Claassen Geerdes. He married Edith Bolhuis on Oct. 2, 1953, in Wellsburg.

Mr. Geerdes was a farmer in the Steamboat Rock-Wellsburg area for more than 30 years, retiring in 1983.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Brad of West Union and Gregg of Iowa City. Three grandchildren also survive.

The Dahl-Van Hove-Shoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls was in charge of arrangements.
