August Kolthoff Services Held

August Kolthoff, 79, of Ackley, passed away Thursday, September 11, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Ackley, with Rev. Jude Reardon officiating. Burial was in the First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery, Wellsburg. A memorial fund has been established.

August Kolthoff was born December 14, 1917, in Cleves the son of Hilko and Christina Ascher Kolthoff. He attended country school by Cleves.

He was married to Mae Sanders on January 27, 1944, at the First Christian Reformed Church, Wellsburg. He had been employed by Farmhand and the Ackley Canning Factory. He was a member of the Ackley Christian Reformed Church.

Surviving are 2 brothers, Ted of Eldora and Wallace of Steamboat Rock; 2 sisters, Henrietta Fluth of Grundy Center and Catherine Richardson of Eldora; 3 sisters-in-law, June Sanders, Kate Kolthoff and Tena Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae; a son, Arthur; a daughter, Barbara; his parents; and 2 brothers, Elmer and Amos Kolthoff.

Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home, Ackley, was in charge of the arrangements.
