Gwendolyn Buchan

Gwendolyn Ruby Buchan died at the Presbyterian hospital at Waterloo on Thursday morning, Feb. 12, at four twenty five a.m. of tubercular (spinal) followed by pneumonia.

She was the only child of Ernest and Florence Buchan and was born on the S. B. Elliott farm in Grundy County and lived there until the death of her father a year ago.

Gwendolyn was an unusually bright and lovable child and will be greatly missed by relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Grundy Center Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Fred P. Fisher and the remains laid to rest beside her father in the Clark cemetery at Grundy Center.

Wherefore should I make my moan
Now the darling child is dead?
She to rest is early gone
She to paradise is fled;
I shall go to her, but she
Never shall return to me.
God forbid her longer stay,
God recalls his precious loan,
He hath taken her away
From my bosom to his own.
Surely what he wills is best,
Happy in His will I rest.
