HARTGRAVE, BEENKEN, SINK

Pearl B. Hartgrave, 76, of 1906 K St. SW, died Thursday evening, Oct. 4, 2001, in her home following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Sharon United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Dobbins. Burial: 2 p.m. Monday, Fairview Cemetery, Grundy Center. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her husband, James; a son, Joe Sr. of North Liberty; a daughter, Lynnice Wedewer of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Katrina Ridder of New Hartford, Clara Hinders of Marshalltown and Lavina Martin of Anamosa; and a brother, Harvey Beenken of Grundy Center.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Joe Hartgrave Jr., of Flagstaff, Ariz., Chad Hartgrave of Seattle, Wash., Amber Hartgrave of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jamie Wedewer of Cedar Rapids; a great-grandson, Joseph Hartgrave of Williamsburg; a son-in-law, Rick Wedewer of Cedar Rapids; and a close friend, Kerry Reck of Bettendorf.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Darwin and Jamie Hartgrave; a great-grandson, Andrew Hartgrave; four brothers, Lutjen, Wilber, Edward and Alfred Beenken; and five sisters, Anna May Clemons, Mariam Bohlen, Lena Anderson, Leta Gerloff and Mildred Katzer.

Born Oct. 21, 1924, in Stout, to Lutjen and Mildred Sink Beenken, she married James Hartgrave on Sept. 21, 1950, in Columbia, Ark. She was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church. Pearl enjoyed sewing, country music, writing and painting.

A memorial fund has been established.
