Janet Bonk Services Held

Janet L. (Jeffries) Bonk, 60, of Holland, died of natural causes Thursday, August 18, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 22, at 10 a.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls with Rev. Larry Hoop officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

She was born March 10, 1934, in Waterloo, the daughter of Clem and Beryl Renard Jeffries. She attended school in Waterloo and also attended West High School.

In 1950, Janet was united in marriage to Donald Dean Bonk. The couple later divorced. She attended Hawkeye Technical Institute in Waterloo, and worked for Mid Equipment in Grundy Center, before going to work for Wayne Engineering in Cedar Falls. Most recently, she had worked for Viking Pump Company in Cedar Falls, until ill health forced her to stop working. She had lived in Holland ever since.

She is survived by 4 sons, Ken (Casey) Bonk of Holland, Scott Bonk of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Timothy Bonk of Beaufort, South Carolina, Matt Bonk of Waterloo; 1 daughter, Kathy Griffin of New Braunfels, Texas; 9 grandchildren; and 1 sister, Marian Sowers of Fredricksburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 1 daughter, Lisa Bonk, in infancy.

Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, was in charge of the arrangements.
