Opal Schwenn, Age 92, Dies

Mrs. Opal Schwenn, 92, died at her home in Marshalltown early Tuesday, September 11.

Services were held in the Pursel Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown with the Rev. Dr. Worthie Usher in charge. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

She was born March 17, 1892, in Grundy county, the daughter of Manly G. and Elizabeth Robbins Canfield.

Opal married Otto L. Schwenn on June 15, 1824 [sic] in Ponca City, OK. He preceded her in death in 1966. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She spent her early life in Grundy Center, graduating from Grundy Center high school in 1910 and later attended Cornell college at Mount Vernon.

A member of the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, she had served as church secretary and treasurer and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Until her death she continued her job as a bookkeeper for a local business in Marshalltown.
