Dan Klunder Rites Tuesday
Daniel (Dan) Klunder, 70, died Sunday morning, December 11, after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, December 13, 1977 at 10 a.m. in the American Lutheran Church. Rev. Kermit Rye officiated. Mrs. Rye sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art", accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Appel, who also played selected prelude and postlude numbers. Pall bearers were Russell Pabst, Rient Beenken, Tony Hinders, M. C. Kenyon, Lloyd Dreesman and Archie Copeman. Mrs. Vernon Reinicke and Mrs. Art Flater took care of the flowers. Ushers were Vernon Reinicke and Art Flater. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, Grundy Center.
Dan was born June 6, 1907 on a farm west of Grundy Center, Iowa, the son of Fritz and Mareka Daniels Klunder. On February 12, 1932, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Luitjens at Grundy Center. They have lived in Grundy Center all of their married life where he was employed in various businesses and on farms in the Grundy area. He retired in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, one sister, Mrs. Ernest (Anna) Aunspach of Waterloo and one brother, Harm Klunder of Grundy Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home made arrangements.
