Rites Friday For John Aswegan
Funeral services will be held for John Aswegan, age 71, who died Tuesday at his home, on Friday, December 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Methodist church in Grundy Center. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.
The body will be taken to the church from the Engelkes Funeral Home at 12 noon. The casket will be open prior to the service.
He was born August 30, 1892, in Beaver township, Grundy county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Aswegan. He was married Dec. 4, 1932, to Ellen Ash. He was employed as a farm worker for 12 years near Dike. For several years, he also worked near Grundy Center.
They have lived in Grundy Center for the past 10 years. Six years of this time, he was custodian at the Grundy county courthouse. About 1 1/2 years ago he was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage and has been bedfast ever since.
Surviving are his wife and twin sons, Elden of Grundy Center and Allan of Muscatine; three grandchildren; seven brothers, Henry, Reinbeck, George of Parkersburg, Luke H., Dike, Wm. and Fred of Grundy Center, Joe of Dike, and Harm of Mexico, Missouri; three sisters, Miss Dena Aswegan of Grundy Center; Mrs. Ernest Kuehl of Gladbrook, and Mrs. Lucy Mudderman of Ackley.
