Ada Langdon Dies In Grundy Hospital

Ada M. Langdon, a lifetime resident of Grundy county, died at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening at the Grundy hospital, following a stroke. About six weeks ago she suffered a stroke while visiting in the home of a nephew at Greenfield, Iowa. She was in the hospital there three weeks, after which she was brought to the Grundy hospital where death came after a second stroke. She was 81 years old.

Ada Langdon was born on a farm in Felix township, Grundy county, October 1, 1880. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Langdon. About 60 years ago her father was elected to the office of county auditor. The family then moved to Grundy Center and resided here continually thereafter. Ada graduated from the Grundy Center high school with the class of 1899. She was employed for a number of years as a teacher in the rural schools before she joined her two sisters, Ila and Carrie, as a seamstress, in which work she continued as long as her health permitted. She was the last of the family to be taken by death. Preceding her in death were her parents, her two sisters and a brother. She was a member and an active worker in the First Presbyterian church of Grundy Center.

Services were held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the Ferree funeral home with burial in the Grundy Center cemetery. Rev. Donald Jafvert, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiated at the service.

Survivors include two nephews and their families, Lyle Langdon from Hammond, Indiana, and members of the Lester Langdon family from Greenfield, Ia. Also two grandnieces. Members of the families of the surviving members were here for the funeral services.
