Gertrude Severance Dies In Hospital

Miss Gertrude Severance died in Ellsworth hospital, Iowa Falls, on Sunday, following a heart attack with which she was stricken the day before. She was stricken at a convalescent home at Iowa Falls, where she had made her home during the past three and a half years. She would have been 79 years old had she lived until July.

The body was brought to the Ferree funeral home in Grundy Center, where funeral arrangements were made. Services were at the Baptist church in Grundy Center at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. J. Lynn Pace from Faribault, Minn., a former pastor of the Grundy church. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Miss Severance was born in Grundy county, July 6, 1881. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Severance. She graduated from Grundy Center high school in 1899 and attended Iowa State at Ames. She was engaged in teaching during the greater share of her active life. She retired from teaching when her health began to fail. Only surviving members of her family are her brother, Frank Severance, and a nephew, Judson Severance, both of Grundy Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bertha.
