Ben Grimmius Dies In Waterloo
Ben Grimmius, who spent the early part of his life in Grundy Center, died at 2:30 Monday afternoon at Schoitz hospital in Waterloo. He had submitted to an operation at the hospital a few days before. He was 63 years old.
The body was brought to the Engelkes Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Services will be Thursday afternoon at the funeral home. The service will be conducted by Rev. F. J. Langenberg. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.
Ben Grimmius was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Minko Grimmius. He was born in The Netherlands, June 20, 1894. He came to this country with his parents in 1901. The family came to Grundy Center. Ben grew up here. He was a veteran of World War I. In late years he was employed at the John Deere factor in Waterloo. He made his home in the Wagner Hotel, Waterloo.
Surviving are his stepmother, Mrs. Jennie Grimmius, Grundy Center, one brother, Otto, at Dike; three sisters, Mrs. Lester Sonntag, Des Moines, Mrs. A. McCuen, Osseo, Wis., Mrs. John Miller, Marcus, Iowa, one half-brother, Harm Grimmius, Grundy Center, one half-sister, Mrs. Walter Folkerts, Reinbeck. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a half-brother.
