Mrs. Arthur Brown Dies Suddenly

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the First Methodist Church for Mrs. Arthur Brown, 80, who died Tuesday of a stroke at her home in Grundy Center. Rev. LeRoy Bauman will be in charge.

Burial is to be in the Grundy Center cemetery. The body will be at the Coffman-Ferree Funeral Home until the services begin.

Lena May Cowie Brown was born on March 24, 1874 in Colfax township, the daughter of Susan and James Cowie. She married Arthur Brown on March 21, 1900 and the couple farmed in Grundy county until moving to Grundy Center in 1939. Mr. Brown passed away in 1946.

Mrs. Brown appeared to be in good health up until the time of her death, and was active in her work about the family home.

Surviving are two children, Mrs. Virgil Creswell of Hudson and Clarence Brown of Grundy Center; a brother, Bert Cowie of Holland; four grandchildren, and other nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, two brothers and a sister.
