Marie Louise Hartke

The funeral of Miss Marie L. Hartke was held Monday, Rev. K. J. Stratemeier officiating. Following a devotional service at the Engelkes undertaking parlors, the funeral procession proceeded to the Bethany Presbyterian church where the pastor spoke in English and German on John 6, 37 and Psalm 62,1 respectively. Mrs. Wm. Kruse sang a number of comforting hymns.

Marie Louise Hartke, daughter of August and Grace Barkoff Hartke, was born in Grundy Center, Iowa, March 29, 1910. She passed away at the hospital in Glenwood, Feb. 3, 1939, after a lingering illness of tuberculosis from which she had suffered the past three years, having reached the age of 28 years, 10 mos. and 6 days.

She leaves to mourn her death her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Hartke, seven brothers, Fred, Heinie, Enno, William, John, Louie and Melvin, and two sisters, Christina and Trena (Mrs. Ted Lowder); also many other relatives in this vicinity and in Minnesota.
