Services Held Yesterday For Mrs. DeVoogd

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Coffman funeral home and the First Baptist church in charge of Rev. David Alexander, for Mrs. Jake DeVoogd, who died at her home here Monday morning. Mrs. DeVoogd suffered a heart attack Sunday evening and apparently was feeling better in the morning, although she had suffered several slight attacks during the night. The fatal attack occurred about 8:30. She was 69 years, 6 months and three days old at the time of her death.

Trena Schriever was born Feb. 4, 1870, at Bertha, The Netherlands, and came to America in 1895. She was married to Jacob DeVoogd October 15, 1895. Mr. DeVoogd preceded his wife in death in 1921. They had been residents of Grundy Center many years.

Surviving are two sisters and two brothers, besides 10 living children, six boys and four girls: Heiko of Independence; Henry of Waterloo; Jake of Detroit; Fred of West Union, Ia.; Harold and Pete of Grundy Center; Mrs. Trena Perro of Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Reka Meinders of Waterloo; Mrs. Grace Cole of Gladbrook; Mrs. Margaret Shuey of Boone; 22 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Four children preceded their mother in death.

Interment was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
