Mrs. Ed Cole Dies Sunday At Iowa University Hospital

Mrs. Ed Cole died at the University hospital in Iowa City early Sunday morning. She had been in the hospital for treatment for a week. She had been confined to bed for two months before she was taken to the hospital. Heart trouble was the cause of her death.

Mrs. Cole was 72 years old. She was born in Fayette county, Pa., on Feb. 25, 1866. She was one of ten children of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Morrison. The family came to Grundy county from Pennsylvania in 1872. Mrs. Cole made her home here continually up to the time of her death. The family lived on a farm in Washington township a few years before moving to the town of Morrison.

Mrs. Cole was married February 17, 1885. She and her husband lived at Morrison and Reinbeck a few years before coming to Grundy Center. They had one son, Guy, who died 24 years ago. Mr. Cole died in 1925. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Cole made her home with her sister, Mrs. Maude Downey of Reinbeck. Mrs. Cole had intended to move to Waterloo to live with her grandson, Donald Cole, whom she raised.

Surviving, aside from the grandson, are five sisters. They are Mrs. Fanny Barrick, Mrs. Rhoda Robinson and Mrs. Maude Downey, all of Reinbeck; Mrs. Edith Downey, South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. E. G. Ensminger. Of the original family of ten children, three were boys and seven were girls. The boys died in infancy. Another sister died 55 years ago.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Grundy Center Wednesday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. David Alexander. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Grundy Center cemetery.
