Mrs. Frank Moffett Died at Home In California

Mrs. Frank Moffett, who was one of the early residents of Grundy county, died at her home in Oakland, California, from infirmities of old age. She was 85 years old.

Mrs. Moffett's body arrived in Grundy Center Wednesday night and it will be laid by the side of her husband in the Grundy cemetery on Thursday.

Mrs. Moffett spent much of her long life in Grundy county. Her maiden name was Caddie Heffelfinger. She was a sister of the late Dr. Heffelfinger and of Jack Heffelfinger. She was married here and for several years her husband was engaged in business in Grundy Center. They lived in Des Moines and Washington several years before they moved to the Pacific coast. Two of the Moffett children are buried with the father in the family lot in the Grundy Center cemetery. Robert, the only son, who resides in California, accompanied the body of his mother to Grundy Center.

Funeral services will be held at the Coffman funeral home at 2:30 on Thursday. Rev. A. G. Annette will have charge of the services.

Obituary Mrs. F. G. Moffett

Clara Louise Moffett was born July 9, 1850, in Chester county, Penn., and died September 18, 1936, in Oakland, Calif., at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 7 days.

Mrs. Moffett was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Heffelfinger. Of this union there is but one surviving brother, Harry S. Heffelfinger of Denver, Colo.

Mrs. Moffett was united in marriage to Frank Garner Moffett, formerly of Carroll county, Ill. Mr. Moffett preceded her in death. To this union three children were born.

She leaves to mourn her departure, one son, Robert H. Moffett of Oakland, Calif.; other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Moffett was one of the early members of the First Baptist church of Grundy Center, and for years was a teacher in the Bible school here. Some of the older members still remember her as one that loved and served her Lord faithfully in that which was committed to her. She maintained this same loyalty after leaving Grundy Center, always finding a place to serve Him whom she loved.
