James Wiford Died At Iowa City Hospital

James Wiford died June 24, 1936, at the hospital in Iowa City at the age of 74 years. Death resulted from a cancer with which he had suffered for several years. He had been living at the county home the past two and one-half years and had been taken to the hospital about a week before his death.

James Wiford was born at Botkins, Ohio, June 26, 1861, and died June 24, 1936. He came to Iowa in 1898 and with the exception of the first six years, spent the remainder of his life in Grundy county. He was united in marriage at Ft. Dodge to Mrs. Carrie Johnson in 1907. To this union three children were born, Rose Lena, Sophia Matilda, and LeEtta. Mrs. Wiford preceded him in death in 1923, and the daughter Sophia died in 1928.

He leaves to mourn his departure two daughters, Mrs. John Eversole, Brookville, Ohio; Mrs. James Oulman, Waterloo; two step-children, Mrs. J. C. Dorsey of Vinton and Alfred Johnson of Grundy Center, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Stephen funeral home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Annette, pastor of the Baptist church, conducted the services. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
