Former Grundy Woman Dies In Waterloo Hospital
Burial services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the local cemetery for the late Mrs. Oscar Haines of Waterloo, whose death occurred at a Waterloo hospital last Thursday. Mrs. Haines was a native of Grundy county and well known here. She was born Mary Eleanor Elliott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Elliott, Dec. 12, 1881, on a farm in Lincoln township. She was married to M. O. Haines of Waterloo June 27, 1917. Since her marriage she had made her home in Waterloo, but was familiarly known to her friends whom she visited here as Mayme Elliott.
She is survived by her husband and one son, Russell, and by a sister, Mrs. R. J. Misner and a brother, James Elliott, all of Waterloo; also by three other brothers, Herbert of Gladbrook, Claude of Des Moines, and Edward of Morrison.
Her funeral services took place at the Petersen chapel in Waterloo Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. M. Ridelle of the First Brethren church.
While Mrs. Haines had been in poor health for some time, her death occurred with unexpected suddenness. She was in Grundy Center three weeks ago attending the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. Hattie Wilson.
