Mrs. Elizabeth Platt Dies in Marshalltown

Mrs. Elizabeth Platt, a former resident of Grundy county, died at the home of her daughter in Marshalltown last Friday. Death resulted from old age.

Funeral services were held at Marshalltown Monday afternoon. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mrs. Platt was born Miss Elizabeth Quinn, Aug. 15, 1862, in Carique, Ireland, the daughter of William and Martha Quinn. She was married to Robert Wallace Platt in Carique, in 1877. They moved to Glasgow, Scotland, in 1908.

The family came to the United States in 1911, settling first in Grundy Center. They moved to Gilman in 1913 and in 1929 Mrs. Platt moved to Marshalltown.

Mr. Platt died Nov. 9, 1918. Surviving are six children, Mrs. Margaret Jane McReynolds, David Hayes Platt and Robert Wallace Platt, all of Marshalltown, George Platt of Grundy Center, Mrs. Ray Hawn of Oakland, Cal., and Mrs. Marion Berry of Madrid. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and by one brother, James Quinn of Glasgow, Scotland.
