Mrs. J. W. Lamar Died Tuesday at State Hospital

Mrs. J. W. Lamar died at the state hospital at Independence at eight o'clock Tuesday morning. She had been a patient at the hospital about a year and a half. Her health had been failing several years. She was bedfast the last six months of her life. She would have been 75 years old in July.

Funeral services will be held at the Coffman funeral home at 2:30 Friday afternoon. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mrs. Lamar was born in Grundy county and spent nearly all of her life here. Her maiden name was Maggie Wallace. On December 10, 1895, she and John W. Lamar were married. For a year and a half they resided at Estherville where Mr. Lamar was employed at the Rock Island station. They engaged in the grocery business in Grundy Center shortly thereafter.

Mr. and Mrs. Lamar had two daughters. One daughter Irene died in 1918. The surviving daughter, Mrs. E. D. Wells, resides at Pittsburgh, Pa. There is one grandson, Deane Wells. Other surviving members of the family are the husband, John Lamar, and one sister, Mrs. Belle Banse. Mrs. Wallace, the deceased's mother, died in 1932.
