Arthur Brown Died Tuesday Night

Arthur Brown died at his home in Grundy Center Tuesday night. He had been afflicted with a weak heart for several years. Two weeks ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis which completely disabled him. He was 78 years old.

Funeral services will be held at the Coffman funeral home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.

William Arthur Brown, the son of the late Thomas and Ellen Bixby Brown, was born July 20, 1867, near Mt. Auburn, Iowa, in a log house. When a small boy, his parents came to Grundy county where he spent the remainder of his life with the exception of one year which he spent in the West with a surveying crew. On returning to Grundy Center he worked in the post office as assistant for several years.

March 21, 1900, he was united in marriage to Lenna Cowie. To this union two children were born, Clarence and Leona (Mrs. Virgil Creswell), both of Grundy Center. His married life was spent on Grundy county farms until his health failed about 7 years ago when they moved to their present home in Grundy Center.

He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, two children, 3 grandchildren, one brother, Everett of Alberta, Canada, several cousins and nephews.
