John Wical Dies Shoveling Snow
John Wical, who had been a resident of Grundy county for 35 years, died Saturday morning while he was shoveling snow from the sidewalk in front of Mrs. J. H. Sperry's house. A heart attack was the cause of death. He was found by Dr. Dalzell, who was coming from his home to his office. He had been dead only a few moments and death was believed to have been instantaneous. He was 72 years old.
Funeral services were held at the Coffman funeral home Monday afternoon. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
John Wical was born in Bodkins, Ohio, and grew up there. He never married. He came to Grundy Center from Ohio and for many years was engaged in tiling and ditching. In late years he did odd jobs around town. For a number of years he owned a seven-acre tract of ground adjoining a lake front near Wallingford, Iowa. He lived by himself in Grundy Center. He was an uncle of Earl and Lee Wical of Grundy Center. His brothers are dead. He has two sisters living in Ohio.
