Grace Sargent Dies Following Stroke

Miss Grace Sargent, 67, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital last Wednesday following a stroke which she suffered in the Columbia Hotel as she was waiting to take a bus to return to her home in Cedar Rapids, following a visit at Grundy Center with her cousins, Miss Maggie Gray and Miss Bertha Sargent. She was taken to Cedar Rapids in an ambulance after she was stricken.

Funeral services were held in Cedar Rapids Saturday morning. Burial was in the family lot in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Born in Grundy Center
Grace Sargent was born in Grundy Center Nov. 11th, 1880. She was a daughter of Captain and Mrs. E. M. Sargent. She grew up in Grundy Center and graduated from the Grundy high school with the class of 1898.

In 1904 Miss Sargent with her mother moved to Cedar Rapids, which remained her home up to the time of her death. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and was very active in church work. She was a prominent member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and a former corresponding secretary, recording secretary and organizer of the state chapter.

Surviving are two brothers, Fred M. Sargent of New Paltz, New York, and Amor H. Sargent of Cedar Rapids.
