Mrs. Dave Reid Died After A Short Illness

Mrs. Sarah E. Reid died at her home in Grundy Center Monday morning following a short illness. She suffered two strokes, the last one being fatal. She would have been 83 years old in another month.

As Sarah Elizabeth Pepperman, she was born July 11, 1865, at Layersburg, Lycoming county, Pa. When she was but a year old, the family moved to Wisconsin, and on June 12, 1868, they came to Iowa. She was married Oct. 17, 1888, to David W. Reid at Grundy Center, and went as a bride to the Reid farm, northeast of Grundy Center. Two children were born to her, Mrs. Lola Pearl Minor, and Wayne Borland who died Oct. 14, 1897, at the age of 17 months.

Mrs. Reid is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Minor, two granddaughters, Velma Murray of Janesville and Wava Meester of Holland; 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ried's husband and her 3 brothers and 3 sisters all preceded her in death.

She was a charter member of the King's Daughters and of the Ladies' Aid Society of the Methodist church. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Services were held Wednesday, June 9, 2 p.m., at the Methodist church, Rev. M. B. Green officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. L. B. Canfield and Mrs. Arthur Trevillyan. Pallbearers were John Clark, John Reynolds, Bernard Buus, Orrie Miller, Warren Robins and George Canfield. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
