James G. Gardiner Dies At Reinbeck
James G. Gardiner, a long time resident of Reinbeck, died last Saturday at his home in Reinbeck from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 77 years old.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the United Presbyterian church in Reinbeck. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery.
Mr. Gardiner was a native of Ontario, Canada. He came to Reinbeck about 60 years ago and engaged in farming near that town. In 1902 he married Sarah Keown and the couple made their home on a Black Hawk township farm until they retired in 1941 and moved to Cedar Falls. Four years later they returned to Reinbeck. He was a charter member of the Presbyterian church, where he served as an elder.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Alfred, Ionia; three sisters, Margaret, Bethann and Agnes, all of Reinbeck, one brother, Rev. Fletcher Gardiner, Canton, Ontario; preceding him were three sons in infancy and two brothers, Walter and William.
