Funeral Services Friday For John Samo

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the French funeral home for John Samo, who died of old age and complications. He was 77 years old. The services were conducted by Rev. Hickman. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery.

John Samo was born the son of William and Christina Samo on a farm near Gladbrook, Sept. 28, 1871, and obtained his education in the rural schools of that community. He was married twice; the first time to Elizabeth Stewart. She passed away in 1907. He is survived by the five stepchildren: William Stewart, Blue Earth, Minn.; Glen, Dike; Mrs. Mabel Frahm, Hudson; Mrs. Lilly Roberts, Everly; Mrs. Sadie Hansen, Primghar; one stepson, George, died in 1948. To this union were born two children who also survive: Mrs. Gertrude Anderson of Blue Earth, Minn., and John, of Marshalltown.

Mr. Samo remarried February 4, 1910, to Nellie Hayes, and is also survived by his widow; one stepdaughter by the second wife, Mrs. Paul Lewis, Waterloo; and three children by the second marriage; Carl Samo, Reinbeck; Mrs. Ann Wooden, Des Moines; Mrs. Margaret Stroh, Des Moines. Two children, one by each wife, died in infancy. There are also thirty-one grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Rohweder, Janesville, Wis.; one brother, William Samo, Reinbeck.
