Mrs. Jacky Grundy Pioneer Dies

Mrs. Mary Jacky, one of the pioneer residents of Felix township, died at her home in Whitten Sunday. She was sick but a short time with pneumonia. She was 86 years old.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Methodist church in Whitten. Officiating at the service were Rev. George Biersborn of Liscomb and Rev. C. C. Winter, pastor at Whitten. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Benson cemetery.

Was Native of Illinois
Mrs. Jacky was born at Rochelle, Ill., July 2nd, 1862. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Pell. The family came to Iowa in 1868 and for a short time resided at Grinnell when they moved to a farm near Union.

On August 31st, 1886, she and George Jacky were married. They resided on a farm in Felix township until they moved to Whitten. Mr. Jacky died in 1938.

The Jacky family took an active interest in community life and they did their full share to bring about community development.

Surviving are four children: Roy and Mrs. R. C. Hammond, both of Drumheller, Canada, and Mrs. Mary Humeston and Maude Jacky of Whitten.
