Fred Long Dies Sunday At Whitten

Fred Long died Sunday at his home in Whitten, following an illness of about six years. He had been bedfast for nine months. He was 77 years old.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Whitten Wednesday afternoon. Rev. W. J. Bearse from Marble Rock officiated at the service. Burial was in the cemetery at Whitten.

Mr. Long had lived in the Whitten vicinity all of his life. He was born there Sept. 16th, 1872. He was from the family of Mr. and Mrs. George Long who had eleven children. Only one of this large family, Ezra Long of Whitten, is now living.

Fred Long and Martha Hagen were married Nov. 11, 1908. They had two children, Howard of Whitten, and Mrs. Florence St. Clair from Council Bluffs. There are 6 surviving grandchildren.
