Services Saturday For Walt Minor
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Grundy Center Saturday afternoon at two o'clock for Walter Minor who died at Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo last Thursday morning following an illness of several weeks during which he was given 13 blood transfusions. Final cause of death was uremic poisoning. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
Walter Minor was born in Bond county, Ill., Sept. 23, 1879. He was the son of Rev. Milton Bird Minor and Sarah Hatfield.
He came to Grundy county when he was 18 years old, and on Dec. 28, 1911, he was united in marriage to Lola Pearl Reid. The couple went at once to live on the Dave Reid farm, and it has been their home ever since.
Walter Minor is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Velma Murray of Finchford and Mrs. Wava Meester of Holland. There are 3 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Charles and Linda Murray. One sister and two brothers are living, Mrs. Mollie Dothager, Mulberry Grove, Ill.; Albert Minor, Hot Springs, and Harry Minor, Granada, Minn. One brother and 3 sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Minor was a member of the Methodist church.
Relatives and friends from away were: his brother, Harry Minor, wife and daughter June from Granada, Minn., and the following nephews and nieces: Milton Minor and Milton Minor Jr., St. James, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Dothager and Don, and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Leichtman, New Hampton; Dr. R. A. Minor, Sigourney; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tedrick, Vandalia, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Elam, Greenville, Ill.; Mrs. Gertrude Upton, Conrad; Mr. and Mrs. Harl Upton, Marshalltown; friends: Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Hanson and Van Lee, Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Manson, Mrs. Violet Long and Kenneth, all of Waterloo.
