A sad and distressing accident happened Wednesday morning of this week in which Chas. Tull, a well known and highly respected citizen of Grundy Center lost his life. Mr. Tull and the Scribner boys were digging R. J. Williamson's well deeper and the former was down in the well excavating the dirt and loading the bucket while the latter two were engaged in drawing the bucket from the well, when, without warning, the dirt caved in and buried him alive. The alarm was given and in a few moments after the accident dozens of willing hands were rendering all the assistance possible to remove the dirt from the well. The victim of this deplorable accident was covered with about eight feet of earth and the body was in a recumbent position when found. Before they commenced to dig the well deeper they removed the curbing, which is due to a great extent for the accident.
