Wm. G. Scott was born in Grundy county, near Grundy Center Jan. 3, 1877, and died Thursday morning, Aug. 1, 1901, having attained the age of 24 years, 6 months and 28 days, death being caused by his being thrown from a road grader while at work on Locust street Tuesday of last week. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon. Rev. J. B. Jones officiating, and the remains were interred in the cemetery west of town where lies the father who died five years ago, his death being due to an accident in falling from a scaffold after which he lived but a few days. The deep seated wound had scarcely healed in the family heart and had only in a measure readjusted itself to its sad and new conditions when the news came of the accident befalling Will. Because of his being in the home, his age, and his good health, he was looked upon as the natural one to take the father's place in so far as he could, but in this accident all plans are thwarted and the old affliction is refreshed, while the new one comes with increased severity. He leaves a mother, two brothers and a sister. They have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
