Ellsworth R. Elliott was born in Grundy county, Iowa, May 18, 1869, and departed this life Friday, Sept. 7, 1900, aged 31 years, 3 months and 20 days. He was married to Miss Anna B. Misner, Nov. 10, 1897. This union was blessed with one child, a girl. He leaves to mourn his death, a wife, one child, his father, five brothers, three sisters and a host of friends. All were present at the funeral. The relatives from abroad were Harry Misner, a brother-in-law, from Aurora, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Miller, an uncle and aunt, from Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Canfield, an aunt, from Iowa Falls, Ia., and Mr. John Poffenberger, an uncle from Eagle Grove, Iowa. Although Mr. Elliott was not a member of any church he believed in Christ and his teachings and attended the Morrison M.E. church. At the time of his death Ellsworth was in the best of health and thought of nothing else but that he was to live many years longer; but death came without a moment's notice. When found Mr. Elliott was lying behind the horses, but as no one was a witness to his death it is not fully known just how it occurred. Dr. Conner of Reinbeck, was called to hold an inquest, and it was thought Mr. Elliott had been crushed by one of the horses in the stall as there were no marks of a kick on the body. Funeral services were held at his home, Sunday Sept. 9th, at 1:30 p.m.; Rev. Mitchell and Presiding Elder Albrook officiating. The interment took place in Rose Hill cemetery, Grundy Center. The attendance at the funeral was large and the floral offerings many and beautiful.
