Death Of Grandma Schrafel

Passes Away at Home of Daughter Early Sunday Morning

Teresia Beck was born in Beiley, Austria, Nov. 25th, 1841, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. E. Hanish, southeast of Grundy Center, at 12:45 Sunday morning, December 4th, 1921, at the ripe old age of 80 years and 9 days. Her sickness was of but only a few days duration and she fell peacefully into that sleep that knows of no awakening.

At the age of nineteen she was united in marriage to Wenzel Schrafel at Beiley, Austria. To this union was born eleven children--nine daughters and two son. The family came to America in 1902 and located at Beaman, in this county and have resided here ever since. Since the death of her husband in 1905 Mrs. Schrafel has made her home much of the time with her children hereabouts. She leaves to mourn her death nine children, two daughters having preceded her to the great beyond. She also leaves forty grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Schrafel was a faithful wife and a loving mother, always ready to sacrifice herself for the comfort and welfare of others.

Funeral services were at the Sacred Heart church in Grundy Center on Monday of this week, Rev. Father Norris officiating and interment was in the Catholic cemetery west of town.

The following children living here and elsewhere were present at the funeral: W. A. Schrafel, Green Mountain, Iowa; Joe Schrafel, Shell Rock, Iowa; Mrs. H. Hottop, of Beaman; Mrs. Julius Mannel, of Buckingham, Iowa; Mrs. T. Schmoranz, of Grundy Center, and Mrs. R. E. Hanish, living a few miles southeast of this city.

Two daughters still reside in Austria.
