Peter Knudsen, one of the well known farmers of Lincoln township passed away at the family home six miles northeast of Grundy Center last Thursday evening at 5 o'clock, after only a two days illness from ulcers of the liver.

The announcement of the sudden death of Mr. Knudson was a severe shock to many of the neighbors and friends who had not learned of his illness. For thirty-five years he had lived on the farm where he died, and during that time had won a large circle of friends who highly esteemed him for his many kind and neighborly qualities. His family was one of the best in that community, and the deceased will be greatly missed by them as well as by those with whom he associated.

Peter Charles Knudsen was born in Denmark on the 5th of June, 1846 and came to America when a young man of seventeen. His first home in this country was at Cedar Falls. In 1881 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Cox, and this union was blessed with the birth of four children, three of whom, with the mother survive him, one passing away in infancy. The names of the children now living are, Charles, who is somewhere in Canada and could not be located to be notified of his father's death; Julia and James, both at home.

The funeral services were held from the late home of the deceased Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Father Norris of Grundy Center having charge, and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery near this place.
