The deceased was about 60 years old and unmarried. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers. One of the sisters, Mrs. John Gaffey lives in this city and the remains will be taken to her home upon their arrival. The brothers are Ed and Patrick, of Morrison, Ill. The other sister is Mrs. Gallagher of Crookston, Minn. The relatives are expected at the funeral.

Mrs. Gaffey and daughter Ida went to Dubuque Tuesday when they were advised of the serious condition of Mr. Duffy.

-----------------------------------------------

Michael Duffy, an old resident of Grundy county, died at the Mercy hospital in Dubuque last Wednesday morning. For the past seven years his health has been failing; last Tuesday his condition suddenly became serious and his relatives were advised. Edward Duffy, a brother, reached his bedside a few hours before his death, but his sister, Mrs. John Gaffey, of this place, did not reach Dubuque until after his demise. The remains arrived here Thursday evening and were taken to the Gaffey home. The funeral occurred at the Sacred Heart church Saturday morning, after which the remains were laid to reset in the Catholic cemetery.

The deceased was born in County Mayo, Ireland, Feb. 4, 1841. He came to this country when about 18 years of age and resided for a time in Wisconsin. A few years later he came to Iowa and settled in Marshall county. 28 years ago he came to Grundy county, and has lived here almost ever since. He was unmarried and lived with his sister most of the time.

Until his health failed him he was a hard working, industrious man. He was strictly honest and upright and always willing to help a friend in need.

Those left to mourn his loss are one sister, Mrs. John Gaffey and two brothers, Edward and Domonic of Morrison, Ill., besides a number of nieces and nephews.
