Bill Ragsdale, 69

Bill Ragsdale, 69, of Grundy Center, died at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital of cancer on August 11. Mass of Christian Burial was August 14 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

He was born on January 31, 1933, in Reinbeck, the son of William and Gladys (Wittgreve) Ragsdale. He graduated from the Reinbeck High School in 1951. On February 24, 1952, he was united in marriage to Barbara Schelling at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. Bill served his country proudly in the United States Army from April of 1953 until April of 1955. Bill worked for the Ford Garage as a parts manager from 1957-1963 when he went to work as route salesman for the Anderson-Erickson Dairy from 1963 until he retired in 1994. Bill was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center, the Grundy Center Fire Department, the AMVETS and the Friends of the Library. Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, spending time with the grandkids and Super Nintendo.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; four sons, Rod and wife Teresa Ragsdale of Reinbeck, Randy and wife Patti Ragsdale of Reinbeck, Rick and wife Denise Ragsdale of Grundy Center and Ron and wife Sharon Ragsdale of Waverly; a daughter, Rhonda and husband Bob Saunders of Schaumburg, IL; 11 grandchildren; and three sisters, Idabelle McIntyre of Reinbeck, Ruby and Elmer Schulta of Waterloo and Marie Heithoff of Reinbeck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Nut McIntyre and Bill Heithoff.
