Hellmich Rites Held At Grundy Center Church

Wenzel Hellmich, age 94, passed away Wednesday evening, October 28, 1981, at Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown, IA where he had resided for the past six weeks.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 31, 1981 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grundy Center, with Father Paul Grace officiating. Public Rosary was held Friday, October 30 at 8 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Mr. Hellmich was born on April 4, 1887 in Teplitz, Czechoslovakia, the son of Anton and Wilhelmmina Hellmich. As a young man he came to the United States. On November 19, 1917 in Grundy Center, IA he was united in marriage to Marie T. Kopsa. He has resided at RR Eldora until four years ago when he moved to the senior citizens apartments in Conrad. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Grundy Center and also a Farm Bureau member.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown; one son, John Hellmich of RR2, Eldora; two daughters, Ann (Mrs. Keith) Shirk of Des Moines and Helen (Mrs. George) Hemphill of Norwalk, CA; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
