Katherine Thielen Dies At Fonda

Katherine Thielen, 76, of Fonda, died suddenly Tuesday evening, June 16, 1982 from an apparent heart attack. A memorial service was held at the OLGC Church in Fonda Monday morning.

Katherine donated her body to the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. At a later date a committal service will be held at the family plot in the Grundy Center cemetery for her remains.

She was born August 25, 1905 in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. M. H. Thielen. After graduating from the Grundy Center high school in 1922, Katherine attended the University of Iowa, where she received her Bachelor's degree, and a Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin. She taught school in Michigan and Illinois until 1945 when she made her home in Fonda with her brother John.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dr. Edward W. Thielen and Dr. John B. Thielen. She is survived by one sister, Josephine Thielen of Grundy Center, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Thielen of Waterloo and 11 nieces and nephews.
