Miss Kittie Heath Dies at Waterloo

Miss Kittie Heath died at her home in Waterloo Monday morning following a long sickness with tuberculosis. Her remains were brought to Grundy Center Tuesday forenoon and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery, following a short service at the grave conducted by Father Hogan.

Miss Heath was a graduate of our high school in the class of 1901. Shortly after the family removed to Waterloo where they have since lived.

The Waterloo Times-Tribune has the following account of Miss Heath death.

Miss Katherine Heath, residing with her mother Mrs. Margaret Bancroft and her brother, Thomas Heath, died at her home residence Monday morning, death being due to tuberculosis of the lungs.

Miss Heath was born at Center Junction, Jones county, February 4, 1882. The family moved to Bancroft where she received her early schooling, thence to Grundy Center where she graduated in 1901. For three years she had qualified as a teacher and kept school. Her father's death occurred in 1896 and upon graduation she came to Waterloo with her mother and brother, Thomas, another brother, John F. Heath residing here before that.

For the first seven years she worked for the James Black Dry Goods Company, and for over a year for Yetter & Waters, resigning her place and giving up work in March 1910. During the past month the disease that had gradually fastened upon her beyond cure made its most rapid strides and death as a relief though a sore one.

She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, an earnest worker, always pleasant and thoughtful of others and her memory will be held in honor by many friends and acquaintances.
