Mrs. Michael Lynch Dies At Waterloo Hospital Following Operation

Mrs. Michael Lynch of Grundy Center died at St. Francis hospital in Waterloo at two o'clock Friday afternoon. She was taken to the hospital on April 16 and on the next day she submitted to a major operation. Pneumonia which was the cause of her death set in following the operation. She was 31 years old.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. Father Leo Entringer were held in the Catholic church in Grundy Center Tuesday forenoon. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Lynch's maiden name was Patricia Lynch. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lynch. She was born in Grundy Center October 3, 1912. She attended the Grundy Center high school and graduated with the class of 1928. The next two years she attended Junior College at Ottumwa Heights, where she graduated in 1930. The following year she taught in the city schools at Ottumwa. After that she returned home and taught in the rural schools of Grundy county for six years.

On October 25, 1937, she was married at Grundy Center to Michael Lynch. The couple made their home in Grundy Center and vicinity since their marriage.

Surviving are the husband and three children: Dennis, 5; Ellen Marie, 4, and Vincent, 18 months. Other surviving relatives are her father, Peter Lynch; two brothers, James Lynch, instructor in the state normal school at Flagstaff, Arizona, and Lieut. Edw. Lynch, who is stationed in England; one sister, Grace, who is a surgery nurse in St. Francis hospital, Waterloo.
