Margaret Pollard Dies at Ia. Falls
Miss Margaret Pollard, who was born and raised in Grundy county, died in her apartment at Iowa Falls Wednesday afternoon last week. She was found dead on the floor of her room Thursday forenoon. It is believed she was suddenly stricken and was unable to call for help and that death came suddenly. She was 78 years old.
The body was brought to the Coffman funeral home in Grundy Center. Funeral services were at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Grundy Center Saturday forenoon. The service was conducted by Rev. Fr. Kress. Burial was in the family lot in the Grundy Center cemetery.
Was Born in Melrose Township
Miss Pollard was a daughter of Michael and Bridget Pollard. She was born in Melrose township on Jan. 4, 1870. She grew up on the farm and after reaching her maturity she took a nurse training course in St. Joseph hospital, Sioux City, and became an accredited nurse. She continued her profession until 1937. She moved to Iowa Falls 21 years ago and made her home there ever since.
Miss Pollard was a member of a family of eight children. Three of them are surviving. They are Mrs. J. L. Cox, Grundy Center, and Mrs. George Lynch, Waterloo. There is one surviving brother, John, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
