Mrs. James Cox Died Sunday

Mrs. James Cox died at her home in Grundy Center Sunday night. She had been in failing health with a heart condition which resulted in her death. She was 76 years old on October 11 of this year.

The body was taken to the Ferree Funeral Home where arrangements were made. Services were held in Sacred Heart Catholic church, Grundy Center, at 9:30 Wednesday morning. The service was conducted by Rev. Fr. Bodensteiner. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mrs. Cox was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Pollard. There were eight children in the Pollard family and Mrs. Cox was the last to be taken by death. She was born on a farm in Melrose township, October 18, 1884. Her maiden name was Teresa Pollard. At an early age her folks moved to Grundy Center where Teresa attended school and graduated with the class of 1902. She taught in a Grundy rural school about six years, was employed in a bank at Dolliver, Iowa, for a year. After returning to Grundy Center she was office assistant in the office of Drs. Thielen & McDowell. On October 11, 1910, she and James Cox were married in Grundy Center. They resided on a Washington township farm until they moved to Grundy Center 16 years ago.

Surviving are the husband, one son and two daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Harold Woehlert and Marie Cox from Waterloo. The son James resides in Grundy Center. There are six grandchildren.
