Dr. Gaffey Died In Cedar Rapids
Word has been received here of the death, early last week, to Dr. James W. Gaffey of Cedar Rapids.
Dr. Gaffey, a former resident and practicing physician of Grundy Center, was born Aug. 20, 1878, at Sterling, Illinois, the son of John and Ann Gaffey.
He soon moved with his parents to Grundy county where he spent his early life. A graduate of Drake University, he was also a graduate of Rush Medical College, Chicago.
He practiced about five years in Grundy Center, then in 1917 moved to Cedar Rapids where he continued until about three years ago. Death was due to a heart ailment. He is survived by his wife, Edna Pepperman Gaffey; one sister, Mrs. F. H. Clark, and a brother, John of Riceville, Iowa.
Services were held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church at Cedar Rapids by Right Rev. Msgr. Maurice Sheehy. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery at Grundy Center.
