John Cullinan Dies At Vet Hospital

John Cullinan, who spent nearly all of his life in Grundy Center, died last Thursday in the Veterans Hospital at Iowa City, where he had been a patient the past two months. He was 70 years old on March 4th of this year. Death followed a heart attack.

He was born in Delavan, Ill., March 4, 1888. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Cullinan. He came with his parents to Grundy county when he was a child and he grew up here. He was married in 1927 to Jennie Tasler. The couple began housekeeping in Grundy Center and continued to live here until two years ago when they moved to Cedar Falls.

With Light & Power Co. 40 Years
John Cullinan was a veteran of World War I and saw overseas service. He was employed by the Light & Power Plant in Grundy Center 40 years. He began services there when J. B. Calderwood was the owner and operator of the plant.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church, Grundy Center, while he lived here and of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Cedar Falls.

Surviving are his wife, one son, Ronald, Cedar Falls; two daughters, Catherine Cullinan, San Jose, California; Mrs. Keith Hubbard, Waterloo; and a sister, Mary Cullinan, Greene, Iowa. There are four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

The body was brought to the Dahl funeral home, Cedar Falls. Services were at 9:30 Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic church.

Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery. The graveside services were conducted by the American Legion Post of Grundy Center, of which the deceased was a member.
