John Joseph Smith Is Heart Victim

Cedar Falls--John Joseph Smith, 67, highway 218 north about three miles, died unexpectedly at his home at 6:30 Tuesday evening. Death was due to coronary occlusion.

Mr. Smith had only recently sold his "Jack's Grocery" on the highway and planned to retire. He had operated the highway store about seven years, coming to Cedar Falls in 1948.

He was born at Elma, Ia., in November, 1889. He married Julia Anna Knudsen of Cedar Falls, June 27, 1929.

Survivors include his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Rufus Rollier, Dougherty, Ia., and Mrs. Herman Priebe, Roundup, Mont.

The body is at the Nelson Funeral Home, where final rites are pending.

Services Friday For John Smith of Cedar Falls

Funeral services were Friday forenoon at the Catholic church in Grundy Center for John Smith, who died suddenly at his home in Cedar Falls on Sept. 14. The service was conducted by Rev. Fr. Weydert. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery. He was 66 years old. He was born at Elma, Iowa.

Surviving is the wife. She was the former Julia Knudsen of Lincoln township, a former school teacher.
