Mrs. Thos. Connell died at the home of her son six miles southwest of Grundy Center, Saturday morning, Aug. 13.

The deceased had reached a ripe old age having been born 85 years ago in Waterford Co. Ireland. While yet a young woman death claimed her husband and left her with the care of seven children. The burden was a heavy one but bear it she would. To this end she came to America and here she taught her little flock the truths of Christianity insisting that they must be noble and upright in every act of their lives.

She always made her home with her children living at different periods in Illinois, Nebraska, and Iowa. Possessed of a kindly heart, the longer she lived the more numerous her friends became as was testified by the large funeral cortege assembled to pay her a last tribute of respect.

Her seven children are still living, five in this county and two in Minnesota. All were present at the funeral. The services were conducted at the Sacred Heart Church by Father Hogan, and the remains were laid to rest in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery.
